Liza’s Home is a residential care facility for women with intellectual and physical disabilities, located in Bangalore, India. It was founded in the late 1980s by Dr. Molly Abraham, inspired by her daughter Liza.
Liza was diagnosed with meningitis in early infancy, which resulted in severe brain injury and led to significant intellectual and physical challenges. In response to her daughter’s condition—and with the support of her husband, the late Rev. Dr. K.C. Abraham, and other well-wishers—Dr. Molly established Liza’s Home. What began as a deeply personal journey became a source of hope for many. Liza, through her life, became a beacon of light, and God used her story to inspire the creation of a haven for women once forgotten by society.
Today, Liza’s Home is home to over 20 adult women with varying degrees of disability. Many come from difficult socio-economic backgrounds, and the Home provides them with dignity, care, and a sense of belonging.
Established as a registered charitable trust in 2000, Liza’s Home is committed to community-based care and the protection of the rights of differently abled women. The Home is sustained by generous support from individual donors, kind-hearted well-wishers, and the Government of Karnataka.
Our residents come from across the country, speaking different languages—and some, none at all. But within the walls of Liza’s Home, they are united by a single, universal language: the language of love.
